Every time I read most job descriptions these days, I want to vomit.
And the more detailed the job descriptions are, the more it makes me want to vomit.
Makes me wonder whether those who wrote those descriptions want to hire a human or a machine.
They probably didn’t realize it, but they’re setting up their soon-to-be-hired employee for soul-sucking work — squeezing every ounce of talent out of that person.
Of course, companies don’t think that’s bad. For them, that’s normal. That’s just how things work. They have to do what’s right for them to survive and thrive. They have to cut costs, innovate, and adapt.
These business owners also have their own families to feed. They deserve more, for sure. They need profit. Because what’s the point of having a business in the first place?
I don’t mean to put any business in a bad light (my wife owns one, and I assure you that she treats her people as human beings). But I couldn’t help but wonder where we’re heading if we keep doing this.
If more and more job-seekers mindlessly accept the conditions set by these demanding business owners, that will become the norm sooner or later. Those who can’t keep up will end up on the streets. Adapt or die. That’s the belief.
That’s why AI is more preferred these days. Huge help for most companies whose aim is to profit and scale without dealing with human flaws.
The job seekers, on the other hand, feel hopeless. They need jobs to survive and provide for their families. So they accept whatever the employers demand.
I know how it feels. I’m with you — job-seeker.
My only hope is that… regardless of technological advancements… both employers and job-seekers should never forget that humans are humans, and machines are machines.
