The Art of Catching Yourself

Can you catch yourself every time you get mad at something beyond your control?

Can you catch yourself every time you beat yourself up for failing to achieve your desired outcome?

Can you catch yourself every time you berate your spouse for his/her inadequacy?

Can you catch yourself every time you want to prove you’re right, others are wrong?

Can you catch yourself every time you fear that you might be missing something?

Can you catch yourself every time you fantasize about a different life or a better future?

Can you catch yourself every time you mindlessly scroll on social media, stalk people you don’t know, and feel bad that you don’t have what they have?

If you can’t… it’s time to practice it.

Try to pause before doing (or in the middle of) a toxic behavior.

Then let go. Stop the action. Return to the present.

That’s self-awarenessThat’s a secret superpower that nobody talks about.

If you can do that regularly, things will start to change. Less stress. Less negativity.

I admit it’s hard. It’s one of the most difficult things to do.

And it would definitely take some time to make it a habit.

But if you want to live a happy and peaceful life, it’s worth a try.
