I don’t fully believe that the true reason most people don’t achieve their dreams is because they’re busy or they don’t have enough money.
Part of it, can be true — we lack resources, opportunities, or maybe enough time. Some people have to look after a sick loved one, or earn more money to support their families. I get that.
But for most people, the real reason is… they don’t want it bad enough.
Julien Smith once wrote about this idea. In his words:
“There isn’t a single thing in this world that’s made better by starting tomorrow. Everything you care about, everything you are about, needs to begin today or it may never happen. If you don’t want to do it now, you clearly don’t want it bad enough.”
People are often confused creatures. We think that we want to do something, but deep inside we don’t really want it — we just envy others doing it. And even if it’s obvious that we don’t really want it, we keep telling ourselves we want it.
That’s why we hear so many people talking they want to do that or they want to do this because that is their dreams, that is their ambitions, and on and on… yet they’re not doing it.
Here’s a challenge: Ask yourself whether or not what you’ve been wanting to do is something you truly love to do. If not, better find something worth your time and energy.
And what about distractions?
If you really want it, nothing can stop you even your favorite video games or the stunning models on Instagram.
You will find a way, you will make time. You will get rid of distractions.
There’s no other way.
